چکیده

Abstract Some find it plausible that a sufficiently long duration of torture is worse than any mild headaches. Similarly, has been claimed million humans living great lives better number worm-like creatures feeling few seconds pleasure each. have related bad things to good along the same lines. For example, one may hold future in which sufficient beings experience lifetime bad, regardless what else contains, while minor things, such as slight unpleasantness, can always be counterbalanced by enough things. Among most common objections ideas are sequence arguments. But arguments usually formulated classical logic. One might therefore wonder if they work we instead adopt many-valued I show that, logical framework, answer depends on versions transitivity used premises. We get valid grant several strong forms ‘is at least as’ and notion completeness. Other, weaker lead invalid The plausibility premises largely set aside here, but tentatively note almost all seem intuitively problematic. Still, moderately acceptable arguments, although statements initial value claims avoid these some extent.

Many-valued hybrid logic

In this paper we define a many-valued semantics for hybrid logic and we give a sound and complete tableau system which is prooftheoretically well-behaved, in particular, it gives rise to a decision procedure for the logic. This shows that many-valued hybrid logics is a natural enterprise and opens up the way for future applications.

Many-valued logic in manufacturing

This paper shows how to enrich the language used in the manufacturing industry regarding information structure and its representation for products and production processes. This is enabled because of our use of many-valued logic, and in order to complement the numerical approach commonly appearing in such representations. We underline the importance of utilizing mathematical disciplines like al...

Classical Indeterminacy , Many - Valued Logic

The problem of representing 3-valued supervaluational languages by 2-dimensional product languages is pursued in [3], [8], and [4]. A solution is presented here that attempts to incorporate into such a representation familiar and plausible intuitive principles from traditional many-valued theories. In particular, it is argued in Sections II and III that the concept of classical indeterminacy, w...

Paraconsistent Knowledge Bases and Many-Valued Logic

Classical logic predicts that everything (thus nothing useful at all) follows from inconsistency. A paraconsistent logic is a logic where an inconsistency does not lead to such an explosion, and since in practice consistency is difficult to achieve there are many potential applications of paraconsistent logics in knowledge bases. We present a paraconsistent many-valued logic with a simple and n...

Bernoulli Automorphisms in Many-valued Logic

In classical propositional logic over finitely many variables no automorphism has any stochastic property, because the dual space is a finite discrete set. In this paper we show that the situation for the infinite-valued Lukasiewicz logic is radically different, by exhibiting a family of Bernoulli automorphisms over two variables. As dynamical systems, these are piecewiselinear area-preserving ...
